Projects that continue after the defence

A final project ends with a defence, and some deserve to go further. The research institute keeps them a space, a supervisor and access to the laboratories of their field.

From a marked project to a carried project

The final-year project is first an assessment piece: it evidences mastery and joins the competency record. When it also answers a real need — an organisation's, a sector's, a territory's — it changes status and becomes work the institute supports beyond the programme.

  1. 01

    Defence and assessment

The project is defended before a board of practitioners, assessed and added to its author's competency record.

  2. 02

    Review of what comes next

The laboratory of the field examines what the project brings to the ground and what it still lacks to be useful.

  3. 03

    Hosting and supervision

A named supervisor, a working space kept open and a milestone schedule: the project keeps a structure after the programme.

  4. 04

    Transfer or creation

The result is handed to the organisation that posed the problem, added to teaching resources, or carried into a company by its author.

What the institute makes available

  • A named supervisor from the field, committed to a milestone schedule
  • The programme's working space and online environments, kept open
  • Access to the datasets built by previous cohorts
  • Intensive workshops and progress reviews with other project holders
  • Guidance toward the entrepreneurship programme for those who choose to create

What the support represents

A hosted project keeps exactly the means that brought it into being: the programme's working space, the online environments, the datasets and a supervisor. Continuity is what counts, far more than volume: the 133 modules of the long-form catalogue produce work every year, part of which deserves to outlive its grade.

Questions about a project's future

Do I need to stay enrolled to continue a project?

No: laboratory hosting continues after the award, with the same supervisor and the same working space. That is precisely the moment when a project most needs a structure around it.

Can a project become a company?

Yes, and it is a planned trajectory. The entrepreneurship programme carries the exercise over 18 months, and the research institute supports projects taking that direction after their defence.
