Who teaches, who assesses

A remote programme is judged on two things: who actually supervises you, and who settles your grade. Both answers are here, with the exact boundary between what a system prepares and what a person decides.

The boundary, written once and for all

An agent may propose a grade; only a person may settle it. That distinction decides everything. On a checkable answer — a calculation, a syntax, an expected result — marking is automatic and immediate, and everyone gains. On open-ended work, the system prepares, a teacher decides, and you may request human re-examination simply by saying so.

  • Admission and exclusion: human decision, reasoned in writing
  • Final grade on open-ended work: settled by a teacher
  • Award of a qualification: an act of the board, reserved to named individuals
  • Appeal: open without cause, reviewed by a different person

  1. 01

    Two semesters

Each opens with a dated work plan and closes with a synthesis assessment, not a simple test.

  2. 02

    A running project

It runs across the whole year and becomes the piece you will show. It is tracked, revised, and defended before a board.

  3. 03

    Two examination sittings

A main sitting and a resit. A valid reason opens the second, with no effect on the year.

  4. 04

    A board meeting

It settles results, rules on progression and gives reasons for every decision. It sits with named people.

The faculty

Each school is placed under a named guarantor. Their role is precise: to settle what a system has prepared, to chair the board in their field, and to answer for its academic decisions. It is a signature at the foot of the deliberations. The list of guarantors, with their field and background, is given to any applicant who asks.

How you learn here

You learn an occupation by practising it. Every module is worked in situation: an incident to handle, a case to build, a system to bring back up. The lesson exists and serves as a resource — what is assessed is what you produce.

Role simulation

You hold the post for several weeks: requests arrive, priorities conflict, deadlines land. It is the exercise that teaches judgement, because it makes the cost of a judgement felt.

Constrained serious game

A budget, a calendar, counted resources, and decisions that bind what follows. You lose points while discovering why — infinitely cheaper than doing so on the job.

Real incident replayed

Documented outages, frauds and accidents, replayed with only the information available at the time. The outcome is revealed after your decision.

Supervised workshop

A teacher from the field, a small group, a piece of work due by the end of the session. This is where the habits a lecture lets pass get corrected.

Defence before practitioners

Your work is defended before working professionals, who ask an employer's questions rather than an examiner's.

Revision until the standard is met

Work is revised until it meets the expected standard. A module is validated on what you can do at the end, and that is the only measure that counts.

Why immersion rather than lectures

A decision taken in situation is remembered for years, because it cost something. It is also the only approach that produces showable evidence: at the end of an immersive module you have a case handled, a system restored, a plan defended. That is what we assess, and that is what you will present.

Questions about assessment

Can a machine deny me a qualification?

Awarding a qualification is an act of the examination board, reserved to named individuals. A system may prepare a file, flag a discrepancy, propose a grade; the pronouncement belongs to the board and to it alone.

How do I challenge a grade?

By a written request, which you do not have to justify. It is reviewed by someone who took no part in the original marking, within an announced timeframe. An appeal you must justify would be a permission, not an appeal.

Can the assessment model change mid-semester?

The assessment set-up is frozen for the whole semester, and that is a written rule. It guarantees that two students on the same course are judged by the same standard, whenever they submit.
