The institute's applied research
A seventh entity completes the six schools: the research institute. It carries the applied laboratories, hosts projects that continue past the defence and works on Guinean and regional ground.
What the research institute carries
The IHETC research institute: applied laboratories, partnership projects, hackathons and support for startups emerging from our cohorts. It carries no programme catalogue: its material is the project, carried out with final-year students, teachers from the field and organisations with a real problem to solve.

How a student gets in

Through the final-year project
A project whose subject meets laboratory work is attached to it from scoping, with a supervisor from the field.

Through an intensive workshop
A few days on a problem set by an organisation, open to every cohort and set in the calendar.

Through a voluntary contribution
Building the regional datasets is open: a student can take part from their second year.

By continuing after the defence
A project worth taking further keeps its working space, its supervisor and access to the laboratories.
The fields open to research work
The laboratories are anchored in the fields actually taught: that is what guarantees a research project finds a supervisor and trained students. The 5 schools with a catalogue together carry 18 long-form programmes and 133 modules, and each opens its own applied ground.

Questions about research
Do I need to be in my final year to take part?
Intensive workshops and dataset building are open from the second year. Hosting a project in a laboratory assumes final-year level, because it commits a supervisor and a partner organisation.
Who owns the work produced?
Their authors. The institute supervises, assesses and certifies; it publishes what belongs to the shared datasets and leaves students in control of what they have designed, including when the project becomes a company.
